The Breathers
is a series of paintings honoring the space of breath. Using both hands, loaded brushes are allowed to bounce down the canvas.  Over time areas of paint build up and an illusion of space is created.

It is in the space between that all is.  It is only in the space between the trees that we see the forest. It is the space between that is relationship.

Square Breathing is a technique of breathing in which one inhales, holds, exhales and holds for equal amounts of time.  It occurs to me that the Earth, breathes, too,  and her seasons are her breath.  With each new year that I am on the Earth, it seems that the years are speeding up, and yet the seasons are slowing down.  There seems to be an equalizing as happens in square breathing.  The Square Breath Seasons paintings are worked on only during their respective season.
